Apicoectomy

What is an apicoectomy?

An apicoectomy is a surgical procedure that involves removing (resecting) the
apex of the tooth root to eliminate the infectious focus (cyst) along with the
underlying infection. Surgeons perform an apicoectomy after the endodontic
treatment is insufficient and requires surgical intervention.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and the patient soon returns
to normal life.
